Help Us Decide the Categories

August 20, 2008 · Print This Article

At this time we have come up with the following categories:

  • Best News Website
  • Best Blog
  • Best Entertainment Website
  • Best Traditional Media Website
  • Best Web Designer
  • Best Corporate Website
  • Best e-Commerce Website
  • Best Event
  • Coolest Website
  • Coolest Web Company
  • Coolest Web Developer
  • Coolest Web Developer

If you don’t like one, let us know. If you think a new one should be added, let us know. Leave your ideas in the comments on this post so we can easily keep track of the thread.

We don’t want to dictate what is voted on - we want the community to decide. The list above is completely arbitrary and is just a starting point for brainstorming. Once we have gotten a good list of categories going we will close the comments here and proceed with taking nominations for each category.

The 2008 Iowa Web Awards Categories will be finalized on Wednesday, August 27th 2008.

best forum / local discussion board

  3. Mr. John Pemble on August 22nd, 2008 1:05 pm

Oh my there must be a best video blog category. I mean, that crazy John Pemble keeps recording himself in the darndest situations… in a hair salon, on a plane, at a convention, at a state fair, and many where he is drinking booze.

@John hah was wondering if you’d chime in with that category!

    Perhaps best Podcast ?

  5. Rob Glazebrook on August 22nd, 2008 1:49 pm

I’d agree that it’d be nice to see the “best blog” category expanded a bit… for example, CSSnewbie wouldn’t stand a chance in the “best blog” category (too diverse!), but “best tech blog” or “best educational blog”? Well, there’s something I can enter!

@Rob I like that idea… We can break the “Best Blog” category down into topical areas.

    Best Tech Blog
    Best Music Blog
    Best Des Moines Blog
    Etc…

@Rush hmm I wonder who that leaves as nominees :)

@Doug now, now we’ll consider “Best Community Developer” and “Best use of media/multimedia”. Be kind to developers - we make the world go ’round.
