I have been a long time member of the gatheringofgamers.com. It is a great site that hosts local community events (like the huge IMAX video game tournaments at the Des Moines IMAX theater), and also reaches a global community (there are members from Great Britain, Australia, and many more). The best part is that the whole community is very family friendly as it encourages both parents and kids to set up profiles and enjoy gaming together.

It gets my vote!
